Is there a 1/2 trimmer guard available? Can you achieve that result by not using the guard and manually using the lever to extend the trimmer blades outward rather than flush?: Yes drop the lever back about 80% and it will be 1/2 guard. Don't drop it too far back of it will snag more. Make sure the teeth are still scissoring with the guard blade.
